Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
Aren’t the facts of the situation that Rice has declined to sign a new contract rather than he is demanding a move. So, it is a business decision for the club. Keep him longer under the terms of the contract but recognise transfer value will decrease according to time remaining – to the point that he could leave on a free in 2 years’ time. Or cash in now while a high transfer fee can be demanded.

I thought Rice was anything but subdued in the post match celebrations. He spoke with a level of respect and diplomacy that Sullivan could only dream of.

Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
I thought Rice looked very subdued last night celebrating infront of the fans, does no one else think his words last night were very hollow if he 100% knew he was off and does not want to be here as Sully is saying?

I get the feeling that Arteta is a bit "emperors new clothes".
They may well struggle to actually make the top 4 next season.

I think it's even simpler than that. He didn't want to go last night, who would after that, but in the cold light of a few days on his more rational, long-term thinking self will come forward again.

Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
It's true that Sullivan could have chosen a better time to say what he just said this morning. But the reality is that it changes nothing. We all know Rice is going and if anyone is shitting on us it's him with his "You never know" comments. But I understand his position. He wants to go but doesn't want to jeopardize the good relationship he has with the fans. It's a fine line to tread.

Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
Sullivan and Moyes had their chance two Christmases ago to make things right here. Blew it. At that point the wheels were coming off, Dinosaur Dave had been found out and the players had been run into the ground, eventually running out of steam against Frankfurt.
Modest investment then would have shown ambition and the continued development of the team. As it was nothing happened until the summer and a total scattergun approach with late, disparate signings that Dave has still to fully "bed in".
Rice wants to win things, sadly there is every indication that last night was a one off, great for us as it was. When your employer comes out publicly the next day and says "he doesn't want to be here" that is pretty much showing you the door, opening it and telling you not to let it hit you on the arse on the way out.
Putting it that way and emphasising the finances (cost him £10m?) shows a complete lack of understanding of a player who, appears to have a genuine affinity with the fans, wants the rewards of success as well as the financial rewards his talents deserve. Sullivan doesn't seem to understand that it isn't just the money. Sullivan being the senior shareholder when senior players had to lobby in Rice's early career to get him the comparable first team wage that his performances merited.
Last night was great for us but we cannot forget that the extent of Sullivan's ambition appears to be to stay in the premier league and Moyes tactics secured a princely 11 premier league wins last year' at times drawing criticism from our Captain.
As the dust settles on a great night the harsh realities of the players ambitions v the attitudes of the ownership and capabilities of the management will come back into focus, disappointing as that may be.

Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
I wish he had waited until tomorrow after all the celebrations to say this.

Other than that it’s probably best that the news most of us already knew is now confirmed rather than dragging it out with some fans still singing 1 more year to him.

I would imagine Rice has advisors who like a cut. These agents are utter scum.
I heard it was £300,000 a week and eight years. I suppose the time of the deal might have had some beating on his decision.

Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
Sully can't help himself can he. Not sure what Dec was meant to say last night. Microphone shoved in his face, questioned about his future minutes after winning a trophy. He can't really say "yeah, I'm off to win more trophies, nice way to sign off, blah blah", he would have looked a right cnut. What did make me laugh though is when he said it was nice to follow Bobby Moore and the other one! Poor Bonzo!

200k a week, easy to flippantly write but 200k a WEEK...Its worth just stopping and thinking about that a moment

Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
No guarantee Rice will win anything at Arsenal.

Sullivan has to go and put a downer on things, but from a business sense, might as well get the money in as soon as possible as we don't want to be bringing in new players on the final transfer day.

Wasn't the £200k a week offered for a 10 year contract?

if you listened to his words in the post match interview, when talking about noble "mark's a west ham man". this from a bloke that's just lifted output first trophy for 43 years. there's nothing wrong in being honest, and I don't begrudge him the move but I wish it was to someone better than those cunts

claret on my shirt 1:43 Thu Jun 8
Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
he's making Rice look a complete cunt, while cashing in. We'll spend the money but we won't get a penny more to spent from all the cash we've made this season. If we got £100m for rice we should have £150m to spend with the annual budget, but we won't we'll just the £100m

How to fucking ruin a great day Sully you piece of shit

goose 1:38 Thu Jun 8
Re: David Sullivan Give Declan Rice what he wants
I have no problem with them getting the deal done early.

But why the fuck does the midget need to announce this to the world the morning after the final?

prick.
